Meet Io

Io asks. You decide.

Io is the AI agent in InOrbit. It reads your checks, monitors, code and decisions, does the work, and files an ask when something needs a person.

Nothing ships on Io's word alone. Every change ends in a tap by a person, and a record of it.

An ask on your iPhone

Io files the ask. It lands on your phone with what it checked, what approve will do and what deny will do. You answer with Face ID, and the answer is recorded with your name.

The status follows · Who decided, when and how, kept with the change itself.

The identity

Drawn from the mark

Io is the InOrbit mark given a face. Three parts, and each one means something.

  • The ring is the face

The O of the mark, the orbit everything moves in. Eyes on you, a light in each one.

  • The i is the antenna

The stem of the i, standing up. Io is listening to your systems.

  • The amber dot means someone is here

The tittle of the i, lit. It is always on: Io has no busy, away or alarm state.

Thirteen moods

One drawing, thirteen states, every one live. Each loop runs 2 to 6.5 seconds with easing; under reduced motion they hold still.

How it works

Io and the agents ask. A person decides.

Every ask takes the same path, whether it comes from Io, a worker it runs or a tool you wired in.

  1. 01

    Ask

Io does the work, then files an ask with the evidence and what each answer will do.

  2. 02

    Decide

A person approves or denies, on the phone, the Mac or in a terminal.

  3. 03

    Record

The decision, who made it and how are kept with the change, for good.

What holds, every time

  • Io and the agents ask; a person decides.
  • Auto-approve, when a person turns it on, is time-limited and expires by itself.
  • Io never approves its own work: whoever wrote it can't review it.
  • Each ask says what approving will do and what denying will do.
  • Every decision records who made it and how.

For engineers

Why this is easy to live with

Io takes the chasing out of shipping and leaves the decision where it belongs.

  • One place to approve

The same ask on the phone, the Mac and in the terminal. Answer wherever you are; the others see it at once.

  • Nothing ships without a person

Io can prepare, test and propose. Merging, rolling and publishing wait for a tap. Auto-approve, when you turn it on, runs out by itself.

  • A full record

Each ask, each answer, who gave it and how. Open it later, link it from a pull request, show it to an auditor.

  • Plain words

Io says what it checked and links the evidence. It says "I don't know yet" instead of guessing.
